Description

Native to tropical regions of south-eastern Africa, this timber tree 

Use: The heartwood is reported to be slightly dense, averaging around 560 to 600 kilograms per cubic meter and as having moderate natural resistance to decay. It is generally classed as a hardwood at the low end of the hardness and durability scale, making it suitable only for light construction and .

Climate: Grows well and produces high-quality timber in moderately humid subtropical and lowland to mid-elevation tropical climates, generally in areas with average annual low temperatures of 15 to 24 C, average annual high temperatures of 25 to 33 C and annual rainfall of between 1000 and 2000 mm.

Growing: Shows good performance in moist, free- to slow-draining soils of an acid to neutral nature, generally with a pH of 5.0 to 7.0 and on sites with full sun exposure.
