Description

Mammee generally receives little or no cultural attention. It has a good resistant to pests and diseases. Trees are commonly between 10 an 15 meters tall, with exceptional specimens up to 18 meters tall.

Use: An aromatic liqueur called Creme de Creole or Eau Creole is distilled from the flowers. It is claimed it aids digestion.

Climate: Grows best in humid to very humid lowland to mid-elevation tropical climates, generally with average minimum temperatures above 16 C and where annual rainfall is more than 1500 mm. 

Cultivation: Best performance is in deep, rich, well-drained soil, but is also adaptable shallow, sandy terrain, and grows naturally in limestone soils. Also does well in the oolitic limestone in the Bahamas and south-eastern Florida, in the pH range of
